Dr. Chrys Egan is the Associate Dean of the Fulton School of Liberal Arts and a Professor of Communication. Her SU leadership positions have included Director of the Youth Innovation Academy, Co-Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity, Faculty Senate President, and BEACON Scholar in Residence. Off-campus, she is the current President of International Leadership Association’s Women and Leadership, Second Vice-President of the Maryland Communication Association, and Past-President of the Popular Culture Association in the South. She has 35 academic publications and 50 popular press articles on communication, leadership, and culture. Her most recent co-edited book is Pathways into the Political Arena: The Perspectives of Global Women Leaders by Information Age in 2020. She has taught over 40 different university subjects, mentored more than 100 research students, and delivered over 100 conference presentations. She earned SU awards for President’s Diversity for Faculty, Student Government Association Outstanding Faculty, Alumni Faculty Appreciation, Outstanding Research Mentor, President’s Faculty Award, and Distinguished Faculty. Throughout the state, she has been honored with the University System of Maryland Board of Regents Excellence in Mentoring, Maryland Top 100 Women, and Leadership Maryland. She earned the International Leadership Association’s Women and Leadership Award for Outstanding Practice with Local Impact. She has two wonderful sons.

Dr. Maarten Pereboom is dean of the Fulton School of Liberal Arts and Professor of History at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. He earned his Ph.D. at Yale University, where he studied the history of 20th-century international relations, focusing on the United States and Europe. His first book, Democracies at the Turning Point: Britain, France and the End of the Postwar Order, 1928 - 1933, published in 1995, won the "Outstanding Academic Book" distinction from Choice Magazine. In 1998, he won SU's distinguished faculty award. He served as assistant dean (1996-98), associate dean (1998-2001), and interim dean of the Fulton School (2001-2002), then as chair of the History Department (2002-2008). His second book, History and Film: Moving Pictures and the Study of the Past was published by Pearson/Prentice-Hall in January 2010. As dean, he continues to teach courses on World War Two, the Holocaust and the Cold War. In 2017 he participated in the Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators’ Seminar in India. In 2018 he received the SU President’s Diversity Award. From 2013-2022, he served on the board of Maryland Humanities, where he also served on the executive committee and chaired the grants committee. In 2024, he completed the Leadership Maryland executive leadership class.
Tara Gladden is the Cultural Affairs and Engagement Specialist for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Boston University, and her Master of Fine Arts in Performance and Interactive Media Arts from Brooklyn College. Gladden served as Director and Curator for the Kohl Gallery at Washington College (2019-2023) where she also taught digital photography, video/new media, environmental art, and mentored students through the Senior Capstone Exhibition. She is a previous ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Art Galleries Manager (2014-2019) and taught courses in the art, music and interdisciplinary studies programs here at SU. At Washington College her interdisciplinary approach to directing Kohl Gallery included collaborations with the Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience, the Rose O’Neill Literary House, the Center for Environment and Society, and the McLain Program for Environmental Studies. Her art practice merges conceptual, multimedia (sound and visual practices), and performance strategies. She works both independently and in close collaboration with her artistic partner and husband, David Gladden, SU Associate Professor of Art. Their work has been programmed and exhibited regionally, nationally, and internationally in festivals, private and nonprofit galleries, established and DIY performance venues.
